I didn’t practice much calligraphy when I was little, so naturally I was not very good at it. Chinese New Year calls for this red couplet that one posts next to the door, and it was a perfect opportunity to introduce my son to it. He had a good time writing it.

That couplet can be loosely translated as: Spring wind and spring rain bring spring scenery; New year and new age bring new prospect. The thing on top of the couplet means “May wishes come true”.

儿子的中文进步不小。周末的中文学校不错，教材也很好，虽然他本人的兴趣不大。我必须想很多办法让中文变得有趣。辅导儿子中文是很有意思的，但有时因为时间和工作的压力会没有心情去做，这是我需要解决的难题之一。

今年我会带全家回中国，这是他们的第一次，想来对中文也会有帮助。
