As I understand it he hopped on a freight train and resettled in Chicago. They say that the Chinese are re-telling the same story that has been told before by other modernizing nations. But the Chinese are doing it at such a scale, and to such a degree, that the old story of modernization becomes a new story of "extreme" modernization. kids growing up in your village today will hopefully skip from the village of your childhood to something close to my childhood, except with Internet access. :) Maybe.
